Willie E. Bowles, devoted husband and hard working father, was born on December 11, 1943 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Arthur M. Bowles and Ruth Hargrove. Willie confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Willie and his family moved from Alabama to Oregon when was 9 years old. He attended Boise Grade School, and graduated from Jefferson High School. After High School he enlisted in The United States Army. He served as a paratrooper.
After his military career, Willie began his long career in Grocery Retail. Many of you know Willie as the friendly cashier at Albertsons. Willie was well known and respected in the Portland community as a coach, mentor and activist. For many, he was also a father-figure.
As a proud Bowles family member, he was dedicated to learning about and teaching family members genealogy. He was called upon to share the family tree and roots at multiple Bowles-Kennedy family reunions. He was dedicated to keeping family connected and introducing many members to each other.
Willie is survived by his wife, Dene Bowles of 56 years of marriage. Son, Robert David (preceded). He leaves to mourn, his brother, Carl Bowles; his son, Orlando Bowles; his daughters, Nicole Harris (Lavelle Harris), Trina McCray, Sonya Agnew (Mike Agnew). His 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Willie is loved by many and touched the lives of many more. Our family is grateful for all the love and support we have received from you all.
