Her last child, Jason Rogers, was born 8 years later. They raised their children to be close. She was often heard saying to them, “It’s us against the world” Wanda and Abe started their family in Oakland. Seeking greener pastures, they saved their money in order to move their family to join her brother Donald Dixon, in Portland Oregon. On November 3rd, 1982, while pregnant with her last born, they packed up their things in a U-Haul truck and moved to Portland. They lived in a one bedroom house on 8th & Shaver.

Wanda had a strong love for family and was also instrumental in raising three of her sister’s children. From Oakland to Oregon, she took in several of them in, at various intervals.
