Tisha N. Waters

Tisha Nicole Waters went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 9, 2018. She was the only daughter of Otis and Patricia Waters, born on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1982, in Portland, Oregon. She was a dream come true for the entire family. Her older brother used to wish for a sibling. This bond between brother and sister was formed before Tisha was even born. He was so happy when he discovered his mother was pregnant that he called her at work and asked, “How do you like the name Tisha Nicole?”. They loved her very much and adored her even more for being the kind, caring, and loving person that they remember.

Tisha Nicole Waters had been baptized at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on June 15, 2014. She became a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on July 12, 2014.

In her earlier years, Tisha attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School. As a pre-teen, she played the flute in Recreational Jazz Band, under the direction of both Thara Memory and Ronnie Harris. Tisha graduated from Portland Lutheran High School in June 2000, where she received the Faculty Award for Community Service. Through her elementary and high school years, Tisha loved performing with the choir and playing volleyball. In her senior year, she was presented at the Les Femmes 2000 Debutante Gala. Later that year, she was a participant in the 2000 Black Baccalaureate Ceremony which recognized African -American students and their accomplishments.

Because Tisha loved working with children, she volunteered at the Legacy Emanuel Hospital Pediatrics Ward. She continued her education for one year at Mt. Hood Community College in 2001. Tisha Achieved her goal and received her Associates Degree at Concord Career Institute and became a Certified Medical Assistant upon graduation in 2005. Her career path led her to The Portland Clinic and Hands-On Medicine.

Tisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur Jones, Sr., Nancy Mae Jones, Andrew Jackson Waters and Elma Ruth Waters.

Her family and friends will remember Tisha Nicole Waters as one who lived a loving and joyful life. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Otis and Patricia Waters; one brother, Otis Waters II; her godparents, Kenny and Linda Scott; aunts, uncles, a host of cousins, her dearest friends: Rachel Cason, Demetri Finch-Brown, Gina Jackson, Denae’ Marshall, and Nate Jackson, as well as many other family members and friends.
