In Loving Memory of Thomas James Mills III

Thomas James Mills III, affectionately known as “Happy Eyes” or simply “Happy,” passed on November 23, 2024, at the age of 56. Born to Thomas Mills Jr. and Margaret Abraham in Portland, Oregon, Thomas lived a life filled with love, laughter, and joy.
Thomas was a proud father to his three wonderful children, Tiesha, Quiana, and Teonte. To his family and friends, his radiant smile was his trademark—one so bright that it would often cause his eyes to close in pure happiness. His ability to bring warmth and light into the lives of others earned him the nickname “Happy,” a testament to his joyful spirit and genuine kindness.
A devoted son, father, brother, and friend, Thomas was a man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, and his family was the cornerstone of his life. Whether it was cooking for loved ones or just being present for those who needed him, Thomas’s love for family and community shone through in all that he did.
A proud graduate of Lincoln High School in 1986, Thomas received a scholarship to play football at Walla Walla University in College Place, Washington, where he continued to build upon the legacy of hard work and dedication that defined him throughout his life.
Thomas leaves behind a loving family and an endless stream of memories. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Abraham; his children, Tiesha Mills, Quiana Campbell, and Teonte Mills; his bonus daughter, Tamera Knapper; his granddaughter, Journee Campbell; his four brothers, Dwayne Abraham, Terryl Abraham, Derrick Mills, and Maurice Ramsey; his four sisters, Johnetta Sherry, Evette Mills, Deborah Patterson, and Louis Schwartz; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As we celebrate the life of Thomas James Mills III, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit, his love, and his infectious smile will live on in all of us. His memory will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to cherish the people we love and to live life with kindness, laughter, and a bright heart.
Rest in peace, Happy. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
