Susan Maria Higbee

        Susan Maria Higbee, 53, formerly of Spearfish, died November 1 in Portland, Oregon.

          She was born March 2, 1970 in Spearfish to Marion and Walter Higbee.  She joined three older brothers, and later twin sisters became part of the family.  She attended Spearfish public schools and graduated from high school with a close set of friends in 1988.  Susan earned a Bachelor's degree from Black Hills State University and worked as a social worker in both South Dakota and Wyoming.  In 2011, Susan fulfilled a goal of relocating to the Oregon coast.

          Susan was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her siblings Paul (Janet), Spearfish; Scott (Elizabeth), St. Paul, MN; Rand, Yachats, OR; Rebecca, Newport, OR; Elizabeth, Upton, WY, and nieces and nephews.
