Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Stella Louise Johnson Bey, 78, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on 1/11/2021 in Lancaster, CA. She was born to parents Sarah and Eddie B. Richey, 11/14/1942 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Stella worked as a Cosmetologist for over 40 years. During those 40 years she served at many organizations including Volunteers of America, helping battered women, men, and children with haircuts, food and clothing. Not only did she help local community groups, but she helped those around her, Stella truly lived a life of service to those in need.
She was a Captain in the Muslim temple, an Eastern Star and a Moor. Stella enjoyed knitting, watching karate movies, and playing cards. Stella was a social butterfly, she hosted many gatherings and loved to cook from scratch.
She will be remembered by her son Thomas Golden Jr., daughters Teshia Johnson and Deborah Monroe. She will be dearly missed by her sisters Carolyn Sampson, Elona Hendrix, her beloved brothers, Eddie Richey, Ernest Richey, Melvin Richey, Johnnie Ray Richey, Fred Richey. She departs from her grandchildren: Ayesha Golden, Tanisha Doyle, Latoya Golden, Thomas Scott-Morton, Mikal Scott-Morton, Makeda Scott-Morton, Johnathan Scott-Morton, Aneesha Scott-Morton, Aaliyah Scott-Morton, Eugene Balfour Jr, Emmarssom Balfour and Samari Balfour, 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Johnson, ex-husband Thomas Golden Sr., son Lewis Dwayne Golden, daughter Jeanetta Golden, parents Sarah and Eddie B. Richey, sisters Betty Jean Wilson and Dorothy Richey.
The family has entrusted Terry's Funeral Home with the arrangements.
