Sherry C McWoods

Sherry Celesta Beard me woods was born on July 11, 1939 in the hometown of Iowa City, Iowa to the union of Lawrence Beard & Ceilla Beard-Tilford. The family later moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she attended ST. Benedicts grade school and graduated from Tech High School where she enjoyed running track and jumping hurdles. Sherry won many first place medals, boy could she run. One time Sherry Jumped over a 6ft fence lol. She was a popular beautiful young lady with a "Coke bottle" shape, and always dressed to perfection!

Later in life she married William McWoods of Omaha, Nebraska. She had four children. And in 1968 Sherry decided to relocate to Portland, Oregon where her oldest sister Shirley J. Gunn and Arnold Gunn Sr. and their 4 children resided 4 years earlier. During Sherry's life in Portland She worked as a bartender for Geneva's, Milton & Oscars, the Texas Playhouse bar & restaurant, Royal Esquire, and from 1986-2000 (14 yrs.) Sherry worked at Cleo Lillian Social Club as the book keeper and lead bartender. Sherry was known for making the best drinks, however Sherry never drank alcohol lol. She loved playing bingo and video poker. She once made the newspaper in Vancouver, WA, for playing 54 bingo cards at once and did not miss "a" number or a bingo. Sherry loved the family gatherings/barbeques right in her front yard while either listening to her son Duanes band play or hearing music from the "Juke Box" that John her son would have the whole block jamming! Sherry loved to eat barbeque; and Popeyes Chicken was one of her favorite foods to eat. She could eat Popeyes Chicken every day lol.

Sherry lived her life. She will be truly missed.

On Friday, May 3, 2024 Sherry was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 84.

Sherry is preceded in death by, Lawrence Beard (father) Omaha, Nebraska, Ceilla Beard Tilford (mother) Portland, Oregon, Shalonda Turner (grand daughter) Portland, Oregon, Virgil D. Beard (brother) Seattle, Washington, Shirley J. Gunn (sister) Portland, Oregon, William McWoods (husband) Omaha, Nebraska, Duane W. Beard (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Lee Ann McWoods (daughter) Seattle, Washington.

She is survived by; children, Duane A McWoods (Portland, Oregon), John R. McWoods (Portland, Oregon), Ceilla C. Darrington (Seattle, Washington); siblings, Sharon L. Singleton (Seattle,
Washington), Phyllis J. McGraw (Seattle, Washington); and a host of grand kids, great grand kids, cousins, nieces & nephews.
