Sharon Kerney, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend was born February 20th,1951 in Groesbeck, Texas to Doris Marie and Raymond David Kerney. Sharon passed away after an illness on June 11, 2021, in Portland, Oregon.
Sharon was raised in Portland, Oregon along with her brothers Howard and Wayne by their beloved grandmother, who was affectionately called “Mama Lucy”. Sharon lived in Los Angles, California in 1971 and moved back to Portland in 2006. Sharon attended Failing Elementary School, Terwilliger Elementary School, Lincoln High School, and graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon. Sharon was a Christian, her childhood church was the Friendly Chapel, she was a member of First AME Zion Church, she loved God and always enjoyed going to church and to church conventions. Sharon served on the Deaconess Board, was the Head of the Usher Board, and was also the Chairperson of the Lay
Department and enjoyed organizing Gospel Fests. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Doris, her father Raymond, her
brother Anthony Wayne Kerney, her brother Howard Haney, her grandson Aront’e Smith, her grandmother Jessie Lawrence and great-grandmother Lucy Dinah Blacknall. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her son Marcus Kerney, her daughter Fatrenda Butler (Portland, Oregon) brothers: Terry Nelson, William Kerney, sisters: Renee Nelson, La Sandra Kerney (Portland, Oregon) her sister. Ursula Shawn Dean (Clovis, California) brother: Howard Germany (Downey, CA) five grandchildren: Kingstonnicholas Thomas-Kerney, Tyron Butler, Shawanda Thomas-Kerney (Portland, Oregon), Dawayne Davis, Richard Davis (Los Angeles, California) great-granddaughter Kiari Butler (Portland, Oregon), Four aunts: Elizabeth Gault (Portland, OR), Brenda Jackson (Federal Way, WA), Jackie
Levingston and Frances Rhoden (Groesbeck, TX) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends
