Sarah Brooks Obituary

Sarah Dawn Brooks was born in Longview, Washington on May 18, 1990, to Angela Charlene Brown and Charles Scott Brooks. She was the first of two daughters born to these young parents; a second daughter, Britney was born the following year.
Sarah’s parents went their separate ways early on in her life, but always remained friends. They both later met and married other people, providing Sarah with a stepmom, stepdad, and many more siblings. Sarah attended Castle Rock Elementary, Castle Rock Middle School, and Castle Rock High School until her Sophomore year. She then enrolled in Kelso High School, as well as the Running-Start program at Lower Columbia College. Sarah graduated High School just a few credits shy of her Associate's Degree.

Those who knew Sarah growing up would agree; She always had a creative flair for hair! After years of (amateur) bleaching, coloring, and rat-combing abuse, Sarah finally decided to take that passion to the next level by enrolling in Stylemaster’s College of Hair Design. If you were lucky enough to have her be your hairstylist, you already know that this was truly her “calling.” She always listened to what her clients wanted, and she catered to each person’s hair-needs for the best end result.

Sarah met and married Dan Randall, who introduced her to one of the most important roles of her life; BONUS MOM! She loved Dan and his daughter, Onna, more than anything. Sarah was the happiest when she was busy being a parent and a wife, but she also accepted them both after the eventual divorce. She was SO proud and happy for both of them when they became Olivia and Max, and loved them both dearly as the people they were meant to be.

Many people may remember Sarah from the performance company she was a part of; Whipped! Dance Co. She danced in the show for a short time but quickly realized her schedule didn’t allow for much rehearsal time...So, what to do? Become the Emcee, of course! She rocked the house, every single performance. Always funny, always flawless, and ALWAYS had the best costumes!

In 2019, Sarah was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Polycythemia Vera. This blood disorder had presented itself in her blood work all the way back in 2009 but hadn’t caused any concern until right before the diagnosis. On October 30, 2020, Sarah was admitted to the Emergency Department for a severe infection. This infection had spread through her bloodstream and into her lungs, heart, and brain. She needed an extremely risky open-heart valve replacement surgery, but her body was just too weak to recover. Sarah left this world on November 12, 2020, at OHSU in Portland, OR. Her sister sang to her and kissed her forehead, as Mom and Dad held her hands and said the hardest goodbye.

Sarah is preceded in death by her grandparents, Sue Dean, JP Brown, and Charles Brooks; Stepfather, Joshua Cameron; and two precious fur-babies; Jeffrey Walker and Jack Daniels (Jack-Jack).

She is survived by her parents, Scott Brooks and Angela Cameron-Meadows (Paul); grandmother, Doris Brown; great-aunt (Grandma) Jean; siblings Britney (Johnny), Candace (Tom), Shelby, Sheldon (Pam), Amber (Freddie), Joel, Mikayla (Dakota), Natalia (Jose), Quincy, Dylan, Nick, and Aaliyah; nieces and nephews Liam, Willow, Hunter, Rohnin, and Abelle. Sarah also leaves behind her forever family; Olivia and Max, her three pups; Gunter, Jelly-Roll, and Sumo, as well as a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and family.
