Roy Glen Maxie was born to Jimmie Lee Parker and Willie Roy Maxie on December 31, 1956, in Portland, Oregon.
During Roy’s childhood he attended Portland public schools and grew interested in many things, including sports, music, and ministry. He acquired a love for fishing from his father that he passed down to his sons. In high school he was a part of track and field, the football team, and later formed a band with his brothers called “The Christianeers” where he played the guitar. He graduated from Grant High School and pursued Biblical Studies.
At an early age Roy developed a love for Theology and creative writing with guidance from his family and elders in the community. His attention to detail and penmanship showed his passion to retain the biblical knowledge he was learning. He preached his first sermon at 17 years old at the Church of Living God Temple 102. He was ordained as a preacher, became a father, and later married and focused on providing for his family. Roy pastored in the pulpit for 20+ years and continued ministry for the remainder of his life.
Roy had an infectious personality. His natural charisma and knowledge allowed him to make friends no matter the situation. His funny quotes always left a lasting impression and carried on throughout the people he touched. He was a man of many talents, and it allowed him to live his life with no regrets. Roy will always be cherished, and his legacy will live forever.
He was the realest.
