Robert Young, Sr. Obituary

HIS LIFE’S JOURNEY

Robert Harrell Young Sr., was born June 10, 1956 in Prescott, AR to Willie Davis Young, Sr. and Floralene Lenox-Young. He cherished being nurtured by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Gustavia Tidwell-Young. Spending time with his Papa and Grandma Doot was his dream fulfilled.

Harrell, as he was affectionately known attended school in both Rosston and Hot Springs, AR, School Districts. He was a 1974 Graduate of Hot Springs High School. He was a lifelong NFL Dallas Cowboys Fan. Harrell loved playing team Baseball and could pitch a curveball with confidence in hearing the word STRIKE! His favorite pastime was playing BINGO as well as spending time at Oaklawn Casino and Racing in his hometown. He loved watching race horses run the track. Oh yes! Robert Harrell Young, really, really, really loved to talk. He enjoyed talking on the phone and was sure to call his select people weekly every Wednesday and Friday. Harrell was full of life, he loved to travel and did so every opportunity that he could.

Proverbs 22:6 states “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Harrell accepted Christ at a young age, and in past recent years rededicated his life back to God confessing Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Thy Kingdom Come International Church, Portland Oregon, under the leadership of Pastor Valina Tyler. He had a great love for his grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. He would always give them monetary gifts.

Robert Harrell was a hard working family man. He began working as a teenager, his first two jobs were at The Historic Arlington Hotel and Miller SteakHouse. After graduating from High School, Harrell joined the family business “Young’s Concrete Finishing" working with his father as a concrete finisher. After sometime he decided to embark upon a different journey, Harrell joined his uncle Lonell Lenox (deceased) as a passenger and learned how to drive eighteen wheeler trucks. After successfully becoming a certified truck driver, he branched off on his own, and drove throughout the United States for a period of time. Eventually, Harrell returned home, rejoined the family business and became project foreman, he supervised mega million dollar projects throughout the states of Arkansas and Texas. After the passing of his father Harrell relocated to Portland, Oregon, where he worked as a construction worker for many years. Once again, Harrell moved back to his hometown, where he became disabled. Though Harrell would eventually experience many health challenges including being wheelchair bound, he never gave up on life. He was very strong willed, always had a word of encouragement and a big greeting smile. He enjoyed helping others and

sharing with anyone in need. He was a joy to be around, friendly and respectful TOO! However he would set the record straight when needed.

Very seldom would he complain, above all others he preferred calling on his mother “MAMAAA.” Who answered and assisted him to NO end. Their bond and love for one another was unfailing. In addition Harrell was cared for by his loving family for sixteen years.

On January 25, 2023, at 2:33 a.m. Robert Harrell’s earthly Journey ended and he transitioned to his Heavenly home.
