Robert Lee Rowden Sr.

Obituary

Robert Lee Rowden Sr. "Grasshopper" was born August 20, 1947 to Leo Morrison and Ada Mae Rowden in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Robert was the oldest child of four sisters and three brothers. He peacefully departed this life March 2, 2020, surrounded by his family. 

Robert came to Portland Oregon at an early age, where he attended Boise Elliot Grade School and graduated from Jefferson High School, with high honors in track and field. In 1966, right out of high school, he was drafted into the US Army. He served his Country for six years, before being honorably discharged in 1972.  

Robert met his first Wife Brenda Jordan in 1970, just prior to discharging from the US ARMY in Killeen, Texas. Shortly thereafter they packed up his old FORD and headed back to Portland, Oregon with Tressa Stewart, the first child he ever called his own.  After arriving in Portland, they were blessed with their first born, Revonda Rowden and their only son Robert Rowden Jr.; He then met Dorothy Stephens and they were blessed with only Daughter, Luschana Rowden. Robert married his second wife Patricia Baker, whom they were both blessed with two children, Isaac Rowden Sr. and Lisa Rowden-Clayton. 

Robert worked many job's throughout his life, the one job he took great pride in and did best was being Our Father. He loved his family very deeply, he also loved bowling, playing  Domino's, and spending time with his family and friends.  We will miss him greatly, but we know he is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Morrison and Ada Mae Rowden, Sister Cherie Roscoe, Brothers Leo Morrison, Leon Morrison and Jerry Lee. 

Robert leaves to adore his memories, Six kids Tressa Stewart, Revonda Rowden, Robert Rowden Jr., Luschana Rowden, Isaac Rowden Sr., Lisa Rowden-Clayton, 25 grandkids, 3 great grandkids, Four Sisters Tina Byrd, Surella Tracy, Margie Gordon, Karla Escobar and many other family and friends.

****IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE FAMILY**** Good morning. I regret to inform you, that the funeral service for Robert Rowden has been restricted to a limited amount of people. Due to the unexpected situation as it relates to the virus, if you have not been contacted by the family directly, please contact them if you plan to attend. We have 12 seats remaining and have made special arrangements to live-streams the service online via Facebook-live for those of you that do not secure a seat. The service will begin as scheduled at 11am both online and at the church. The cemetery is not limiting their space and everyone is welcome to the military honors that follows as well as the repass. Please send a friend request ahead of time, from the following link if you do not secure your seat ahead of time, so that you are able to watch prior to the cemetery honors.
