Ricky Joe Patterson Jr.

Ricky Joe Patterson Jr. was born at Emanuel Hospital, August 4th, 1982, in Portland Oregon to Mother Kimberly Woods and Father late Ricky Joe Patterson senior.

On October 22nd at only the age of 41, we lost a man who’s smile, laughter, comfort, and love will forever be embedded in our hearts.

Ricky lived his growing years in Portland Oregon and went to Sabin Elementary, Beaumont Middle School and Ulysses S. Grant High, home of the Generals.  Ricky had a passion for cooking and finding creativity with it and shared his love of food with others.  Ricky once said, “Since they are watching, let’s keep them talking” and that is certainly what people did.  When you didn’t find Ricky whipping up a meal, you could find him making moves in a fresh pair of J’s, a nice fit to go with them and smelling good when he walked in the building. 

Although Ricky lived a very fulfilled life, he was never too busy for the family. Ricky was someone that the family could depend on and was always there to be a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear and provided words of encouragement.  Whether you’d just seen Ricky yesterday or two years ago, the conversation was always good and uplifting.

As we sit here today, we each have different memories that we have shared with Ricky, but we all got to experience that “Rickey smile” and that “Ricky laugh” with that slight smirk he would have on his face when the conversation got good.

Ricky’s greatest accomplishments in life were being a father and he leaves behind his beautiful children, Jaden, Marianna, Emery, and JoZiah, mother Kimberly Woods and proceeding him in death his father Ricky Patterson Sr, as a grandson to Ruby Patterson and Gertrude Rice both who proceed him in death, as a brother to Dupree Smith, Keenan Woods and his brother Joe’Von Patterson who proceed him in death, sister Rakeisha, and a host of cousins and nephew to many including Nacole Patterson and Brenda Patterson in which he considered them to be like an additional sister and bonus mother.

We love you Ricky and when God has each of us in his plans to meet again, we shall see you then
