Nettie A. Johnson was born August 13, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the parents of Willie P. Johnson and Doris Johnson Brazile. Christian family surrounded Nettie at the age of eleven, she accepted Christ at Zion Mission Baptist Church, where she was baptized under Pastor David King in Shreveport Louisiana.
Upon graduation from Union Street High School in 1963 she relocated to Portland, Oregon and joined Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church under Pastor O.B. Williams.
In July, 1965 she married Eddie Gene White Sr. To this union, two children were born, Deno White, and Kimberly Ann White “Kim-Kim”.
In December, 1967 Eddie Sr. passed. Nettie became a young widow with two young children.
In 1970, Nettie attended a revival at William Temple Church of God In Christ under Supertendent E.W. Rand; she rededicated her life and became active in Children Ministries.
Nettie frequently visited relatives in Southern California. It was around the late 90’s, she’d met a widower, Arthur G. Morris. Their common interest set in motion a courtship, resulting in their marriage in 1996, Portland OR.
The duo resided in Gardena, California until the passing of her husband Arthur “Jerry” in 2010. It was then that Nettie decided to move back to Portland to be near her family.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, taking long walks, laughing, reading her scriptures, and simply living her best life. She was a leader, provider, the epitome of love, a legendary woman.
Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie G White(65) & Arthur G Morris(10); Parents, Willie P. Johnson and Doris Johnson Brazile.
Cherishing precious memories of her are her son, Deno White; daughter, Kimberly A. Blanchard(Gary); Sisters Graciela Teofield, Vilma Renfro; Brothers Timothy Phillips, Neopolian Brazile, Harold Taylor, Gilbert Taylor(Adeline), Edwin Casanova.
She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren Michael C. White(Nicole), Christopher V. White, Dominique M. Blanchard, Kerina A. Blanchard, Amber N. Blanchard; 5 Great-Grandchildren Dayana White, Crisillia White, Crayvon White, Cayden White, Niyat Zedengil; A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
