On Friday, July 31, 2020, Mildred Dean Mitchell passed away at the age of 83 at her home in NE Portland, Oregon.
She was born August 9, 1936, to Emma-Jean and Benjamin Robinson in Birmingham, Alabama.
She has 3 surviving half-brothers; Zachary Earl Boey, Carl Reese Williams and Philip Stanley Williams.
She attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School as a child and Reed College as a young woman.
She married Stanley Herbert Mitchell on July 13, 1957. Together they raised two daughters, Susie Mitchell-Wolfe and Tracie Mitchell-Allaire. She nurtured five grandchildren, Aaron Wolfe, Reuben Mitchell, Marissa Wolfe, Shaei Mitchell, Damon Cousins and four great-grand-children, Amirah, Mikeiylah, Tical and Aries.
She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who’ve known her and her late husband Stanley for decades.
Mildred was a strong matriarch of a loving family. She was a co-business owner with her late husband Stanley, who were in the restaurant and coffee shop business for over 40 years.
She was a talented seamstress, knitter, painter and jewelry maker, and a prolific gourmet chef that prepared wonderfully delicious meals for her family for all the major holidays throughout the years.
She was an intellectual and knowledgeable in multiple disciplines and loved a good debate with anyone who was blessed to have conversations with her.
She had a warm kind and loving spirit and was known and cherished by many people in the Portland area. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
