Melody Howell

Mel was born to Linda Walton and Cecil (Tico) Walton on August 29, 1963, in Portland Oregon. Mel was a graduate of Madison High School class of 1981. After high school Mel attended Portland Community College before deciding to join the United States Marine Corps. During her 7 years of service she became a Unit Diary Chief, became an Expert Rifleman and earned two Navy Achievement Medals which at the time was one of the highest peacetime medals Marines could earn. After returning to Portland in 1991 with her son Bryce, Mel began her civilian career in Human Resources at PP&L. She continued her career at CenturyLink and after 17 years retired as a Director in Human Resources.

On August 18, 2024, Mel went home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Walton; sister, Michelle "Mimi" Walton; brother, Timothy Brown; grandmother, Wessie Daniels; grandfather, Bennie Daniels; her aunts, Margaret Crolley, Patricia Knight and Audrey Sims; her uncles, John "Bubba" Daniels and Charles Daniels. 

She is survived by her sons, Bryce and Blake; her sister, Cecily Brewster; and her mother, Linda Walton. And various aunts and cousins.
