Mattie Lee (Odoms) Harris

Mattie Odoms Harris, daughter of the late Bernice and Allen Odoms, Sr. completed her life's journey on December 3, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. 

Her life began on May 26, 1938, in Kenedy, Texas. After her mom passed, her dad and two aunties moved the family to Portland, OR in 1945. She completed her education at Jefferson High.

Mattie was employed in numerous places but her longest and enjoyable employment was working with Portland Public Schools as a teacher's aide.

In March of 1964, she married John Harris, Sr. They had two children, Serita and John, Jr. 

Mattie loved having cookouts with family and friends and playing Bid Wiz and Bingo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edward and Allen, Jr. and granddaughter, Makayla Harris.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, John, Sr.; two children, Serita Richardson of California and John, Jr. of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Indigo, Maya, Shaquille, Shauna, India, John, III, Kylin, Eva and Mon'tre; one sister, Estella Johnson, and a host of great-grands, nieces and nephews. Sister-in-laws, Janet Odoms of Florida, Thelma Harris of Portland, OR and Katherine Wallace of Chicago.
