Marvin Porter Obituary

Marvin passed away peacefully in his home with Brenda by his side. He was 64 years old. Marvin was born and raised in Peterson, Alabama where he acquired the nickname “Bud” and or “Pretty Boy”. At a young age he learned to fish and hunt, fishing became his passion. After graduating from high school his sister Rose, brought him to Oregon and he made Portland his home.

Marvin worked in a foundry along side his brother Eddie and his two brothers in laws, Nate (Babe brother) and Sylvester. He fell in love with Brenda at the age of 20 and was determined to make her his wife. He succeeded. They’ve been married 41 years and were blessed with two children, Adam James and Tara Dawana.

Adam made us proud by becoming a Chief, in the United States Navy and Tara blessed us with three wonderful grandsons, Demar (Blump), Tre and Eric (Little E). Sadly, with a broken heart, he had to leave us behind.

Marvin had a wonderful life, he lived life to the fullest with family and friends, he leaves you this verse: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, II Timothy, 4:7.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Mae (Madear) and father Jim; four brothers, Eddie, James, Jerry and William; two sisters, Jackie and Irene; and along with many other loved ones. He won’t be alone when he gets home.

St. John 14: 1-2 Let not your heart be troubled, Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Jesus

Leaving to mourn; sisters, Rosa (Nate), Violet (Sylvester), Nancy, Teri, Elicia; brother, Orlando (Dobie) (Crystal); mother in law, Kathy (Mom); three sisters in laws, Mona (Kaleo), Sheila (Phil), Launa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He’s gone home but will never be forgotten.
