It is with loving remembrance that we acknowledge the transition of Mark Anthony Goldsby, Sr. from this earthly realm to eternal rest on October 14, 2025
A devoted husband, father, servant of his church, and a man whose hands were equally skilled with a fishing rod, a chef’s knife, and a lawnmower, Mark’s legacy is one of steadfast devotion and joy. Mark was born on December 17th, 1956, in Portland, Oregon, to Alfonzo Lenard Goldsby Sr. (Arkansas) and Gwendolyn (Lathan) Goldsby ( Illinois). He grew up in Portland and attended Vernon Elementary School and Adams High School. He established a life of integrity, marked by his generous spirit and his commitment to his family and faith. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Montgomery) Goldsby for 13 wonderful years. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the simple, enduring joy of a shared life. A Man of Many Talents Mark was a true renaissance man of his community. As a Deacon and Usher at Corner Stone Community COGIC, he greeted every member and visitor with a welcoming smile, ensuring all felt the warmth of God’s house. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding his actions as a leader and mentor. His passions were as varied as they were wholehearted. He was a master of his domain, whether
cultivating the perfect lawn—a source of pride and therapy—or turning a simple dinner into a feast as a gifted home and commercial chef. His greatest escape was found on the water; as an avid fisherman, he patiently cast a line, finding peace and reflection in the rhythm of the lake. As the family handyman, there was no task he wouldn’t tackle, always willing to lend a tool and his expertise to anyone in need. Even as a boy, Mark’s energy and spirit were unmatched. Family members recall him darting through the house “fast as lightning,” so quick that his father had to build a wall of chairs just to slow him down. That moment captured the essence of who Mark was — lively, unstoppable, and full of joy. Above all his accomplishments, Mark’s greatest role was that of a family man. He was a loving father and a treasured grandfather, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family. Mark was known for his quick sense of humor,
generous heart, passionate spirit, and unwavering work ethic. He took great pride in everything he did — from his craftsmanship to the way he carried himself. A good suit hated to see him coming, because Mark wore it with confidence and style. Mark was a big fan of the Portland Trailblazers and also the Dallas Cowboys. He was deeply devoted to his wife, his family, and his faith, pouring his love and energy into all three. Mark was always ready for a good time surrounded by those he loved most, filling every gathering with laughter, warmth, and joy. His presence lit up every room, and his love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Mark loved boldly and openly. He never let a moment pass without reminding his family and friends that they were loved. His words, “I love you,” were not just a phrase — they were a reflection of his generous heart and the way he lived his life.
