With hearts full of love and deep sorrow, we celebrate the beautiful life of Margo L. Taylor, who entered eternal rest on February 27, 2025. Margo was born on December 21, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to Fred Jr. and Georgia Taylor, and from the very beginning, she brought light, laughter, and warmth to all who knew her.
Margo’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church under the pastorage of Rev. Harley Akers, where she sang in the youth choir with joy and devotion. She attended Highland/Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and later graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971. With a strong sense of justice and a compassionate heart, Margo pursued higher education at Portland State University, earning a degree in Criminal Justice.
Her career path was as dynamic as she was. Margo served as a police officer in Oakland, California, and later, with her infectious smile and unwavering kindness, became a beloved figure at the Oregon DMV. Known to many as "Miss DMV," Margo had an extraordinary way of turning everyday interactions into moments of warmth and connection. Her presence was a gift—radiating joy, positivity, and an energy that uplifted everyone she met.
From childhood, Margo embraced life with a fearless spirit. She had a deep love for sports, never hesitating to jump into a game of basketball, football, or softball, regardless of who was playing. Her competitive drive was matched only by her generous heart—she played to win, but more importantly, she played to bring people together.
As an adult, Margo found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. She cherished fishing trips and adventurous camping excursions, always finding solace in nature’s beauty. Though she did not have children of her own, Margo’s love extended far beyond bloodlines. She was a devoted godmother and mentor to many, nurturing and guiding with the wisdom, strength, and unconditional love that defined her.
Margo was welcomed into eternity by her beloved parents, Fred Jr. and Georgia M. Taylor; her siblings, Fred Taylor III and Cathy L. Taylor; and her cherished god-sisters, Gwendoly J. Robinson and Brenda K. Coleman.
She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts—her dear brother, Gregory Taylor; her nephews, William Bradley and Rashod White; and her niece, Morgan Taylor, God sister Sarita Rush, and God sons Jaelin Rogers and Justin Thomas, and a host of cousins throughout Portland, Pasco Washington, Denver, Colorado, and Jefferson, Texas. Margo’s legacy also lives on in the countless friends, extended family, and lives she touched with her boundless kindness and radiant spirit.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Margo’s love, laughter, and light will continue to shine through those she leaves behind. She was a gift to this world, and now she rests peacefully, forever cherished and never forgotten.
