Margaret McGee

February 22, 1927 ~ April 20, 2020 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Margaret McGee Obituary

Margaret was born in Foreman, Arkansas to Willie Harris and Reberta Hatton. She was one of eight children and is survived by her sister Bertha Jean Urquart in Bakersfield, California. 


Margaret gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptised at St. Matthews First Baptist Church in Foreman, Ark. 


Margaret attended and graduated from Foreman High School (formally Unity High), in Foreman, Ark.


She married the Love of her life, Warren G. McGee Sr. in May of 1943 and moved to Vanport, OR. To that union six children were born. Reberita McGee-Fitz (husband George), Marvia McGee, Warren McGee Jr. (wife Joyce), Ronald McGee (deceased wife MaryAnn), Sharon McGee (husband Henry), and Marie McGee (deceased).
After 57 years of marriage, Warren G. McGee Sr. passed away in 2000.

Margaret worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 24 years as an LPN. 


Margaret joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Portland, OR under pastorage Rev. A.B. Devers, where she remained faithful for over 60 years. She was the Mother of the Ushers Dept., member of the Mothers Board, the President of the Senior Women of Convention of the Northwest, President of Senior Womens Mission, an active member of the Senior Womens Auxilory on a National level. She was also a member of the National Association of Coloured Womens Clubs in Portland, OR Chapter. 


She was an astute Real Estate owner. 


She leaves to mourn her husband Robert E. Brown (married in 2009).


She was the Mother of 5 generations of many Great-Great Grandchildren, loving nieces and cousins.


The Family would like to thank the medical team at Kohler Pavillion OSHU for the tremendous care given. The entire New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Family. To All of those who called, sent cards, flowers, Prayers and other manners of gratitude. Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
