Louise Waters passed away March 3, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born June 27, 1926 in Jackson, Louisiana to the late Charlie Leonard and Pennella Bennett.
She confessed Christ in 1943 at Mc Kowen Baptist Church #2 in Baton Rouge.
Louise attended Jackson Grade School and McKinley High School in Baton Rouge. She furthered her education in nursing and graduated from Crenson School of Practical Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 1947, she moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1950, Louise became a member of Vancouver Ave Baptist Church where she remained a loyal and faithful member. Also in 1950, Louise united in holy matrimony with Cisroe Waters.
Louise started her nursing career at Emanuel Hospital as a registered nurse and stayed there for many years. Louise was a member of the following organizations: Vancouver Ave BC Mission #2, Christian Fellowship League, the Vancouver Ave BC Nurses Guild, the National Council of Negro Women, The Altruistic Club, Senior Citizens Ladies Auxiliary, Board Member Ladies Auxiliary, Union District Baptist Association of Oregon Nurses Corp for 9 years, President of Union Pacific Employees Club #9 where she was their president for over 10 years, Billy Webb Elks Lodge, and was one of the original creators of the Royal Dion Social Club . She also volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Bank for many, many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cisroe; parents; four brothers, Morris, Moses, Richard and Emmett; two sisters, Leathal and Nellie; and two grandchildren, Shelley and David.
She leaves to mourn her memory, two sisters, Bernice and Mary; daughter, Sandra Sims; granddaughters, La Kesha and Desiree; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Leon; niece, Berdice; two great-nephews, DeAndre and Darryl; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and family members.
She will be greatly missed.
