Lorenzo Porter also known as “Lobo” was born on February 4, 1965, in Selma, Alabama to Verdell Walton and Julius Gulley.
In 1967, the family relocated from Selma, Alabama to Portland, Oregon. Lorenzo attended John Ball Elementary School, Jefferson High School, and was in the Job Corp.
Lorenzo was raised in a large family. He was the youngest boy out of ten children and was surrounded by many aunties, uncles, and cousins.
He was a dedicated father and grandfather and was well known for protecting and supporting his family.
Lorenzo was a jack of all trades: carpenter, handyman, DJ, and was excellent with dogs. He was quite a cook and a natural comedian. Whether he was barbecuing for his family, the homeless, or his community of friends at Dawson Park, Lorenzo stayed on a grill with a speaker in tow, blasting his favorite music. Whenever you heard of Lobo doing a job, you knew the job was going to be done right! He was proud of his work and had a genuine love for people.
As an avid sports fan, Lorenzo was a committed Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers supporter. He was often seen wearing their team’s swag.
Lorenzo had a strong career in Construction for 15 years. His most recent employment was with Zen Vision Hospitality.
He is preceded by his mother Verdell Walton, father Julius Gulley, Brother Cedric “Wayne” Mixon, nephew Antonio Porter (Julia Ann Porter’s son), and nephew Marlon Linton (Darlene Linton).
He leaves to grieve:
Three sons: Rashawn Porter Sr. (wife, Heather Porter), Antonio Porter, Julius Jahunt Porter, and daughter, Tanarra Porter.
Six grandchildren: Monique Porter, Rashawn Porter Jr., Aneila Porter, Zaydon Porter, Alivia Porter, and Zamir Porter.
