Linda Darnell McGee was born on October 18, 1947 at 5:07 am to Mary Ella Matthews of Bogalusa, Louisiana and Willis A. McGee of Franklin, Louisiana at Charity Hospital.
She Attended Robert R. Moton Grade School, George Washington High School in Louisiana 1965. After Finished high school, she married her high school sweetheart Steve Mickle. From this marriage, she had four children.; Tilitha McLamore of California, Bridget Mickle-Thomas of South Carolina, Dr. Terri McQuirter of Tennessee and Stevie Mickle Jr. of New Orleans,
Louisiana. She worked various jobs while studying at LSU School of Nursing and raising her four children on her own. After receiving her BS degree from LSU in nursing, she worked at various hospitals, but the last 15 years of employment was at Baptist Hospital in Louisiana in the ER Department.
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she relocated to Olympia, Washington where she met the love of her life, Grady Wigfall in 2006. In 2011, she moved to Portland and in 2012 her and Grady were married. She joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at that time and volunteered on the repast team in the kitchen. She enjoyed attending church.
Linda loved to fish and cook. Some of her favorite dishes were red beans and rice on Monday’s, fish of Fridays and gumbo for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Shrimp was anytime. “How do you want it, how do you feel”? She had it going on. Linda also loved gardening, piddling and planting colorful flowers in the yard, watching Greek Medieval movies, taking long walks and road trips, and dancing. . She could cut a step or two. Other favorite things included shopping and decorating her home and herself. She could make them both look like a million dollars, especially when she put on her Sunday best. What a fashion show. She also had the gift of gab. There wee a million stories in the naked city, she could tell you half of them. No one was a stranger after meeting Linda.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Willis Mcgee, sister, Ruby McGee and brothers Chester and Gary McGee.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Grady, children Tilitha, Bridget, Terry and Michael. Sister; Alvartine Green, Mavis McKinight and Marilyn Parker as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
