Lawrence Carl Johnson (Buck) passed away on May 14, 2026 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon surrounded by family and friends. Buck was born on June 2, 1944 in Vancouver, Washington.
He moved to Bryan, Texas with his parents and two older brothers in1945. Buck graduated from E.A.Kemp High School. He later attended Portland Community College and trained to become a sheet metal machinist.
He worked as a professional painter, a sheet metal machinist and in the scrap metal industry.
Buck enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and listening to gospel and blues music. He had a great sense of humor and always had a story or joke to tell.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents Cary and Pearlie Johnson and two brothers Otis Charles Johnson and Anthony Quinn Johnson.
He leaves behind four brothers Alvin R. Johnson, Walter G. Johnson, Marion J. Johnson, John E. Johnson and four sisters Gloria I. Chiles, Nanshell M. Gill, Frankie J. Dishman and Marilyn J. Price. He also leaves behind three children: Pamela Johnson Birdine, Micheal Q. Johnson and Ya Mya Johnson; and three grand children: Pamela Lowe Gregory, Brittany Johnson and Brianna Johnson; and four great grand children: Chasity Johnson, Neiman-Marcus Bush, Adalyn Johnson and Aviana Johnson; and four great-great grand children: Derrick Dixson, Caidyn Dixson, Peyton Busch, Cali Busch.
And host of other family and friends.
