Laura Livingston Obituary

Laura, or "Lauralee" as family called her. Born in Galveston, Texas to Lula Mickens & Lorenzo Murphy (both of Texas) February 27th, 1948. She was the second born of six siblings. Laura was proud and loved her African American Heritage, she loved African History she loved her Southern roots, and being a "Southern girl". Reminiscing her Mom in the kitchen Cooking up Southern dishes, Laura would copy cat recipes she remembered growing up. She enjoyed cooking. there was always something cooked or being cooked on the stove and a plate to make when family, or friend stopped by.

She Loved her family and wanted to see them all happy and successful. She Loved her friends just as much and was ready to do anything she could to help when needed, from helping someone who needed some house cleaning, to grocery shopping, or if you just needed a ride she didn't mind. She was happy to help.

Her early years she arrived to Portland, Oregon. She worked at the "Shipyard" For sometime. She learned the trade of welding, she loved it, got a degree through Portland Community College and  then she retired as a Supervisor.

She later took on painting and worked on many projects, businesses and homes. She dabbled giving a helping hand a bit, along side of her late Husband while he we to work for his Painting, Roofing and Construction business. She enjoyed sometime as a volunteer working with Meals on Wheels driving and Delivering meals. Later on in her life she had to take on Caregiver as she cared for her Husband and Brother after that.

Laura found happiness taking a drive listening to Jazz Music on "1480"radio station with her tackle box, and fishing rods down to Swan Island any chance she could get To her, there was no better place to relax and get away.

Laura was preceded in death by her late Husband, Gary W. Livingston, her parents, her siblings: (Twins) Launzo and Lorenzo Murphy, Lorraine Murphy-Oliver, Josh-Paul Murphy and Warren Karl Murphy, Portland, Oregon, Step- Siblings of Galveston, Texas: Catherine Fountaino, Lorenza June Murphy and Kimberly Murphy, Step-Sibling of Hitchcock, Texas: Skip Davis Murphy Step-Sibling of Austin, Texas: Bryant Murphy.

Laura is the Mother to LaBaron Singleton-Murphy and James Smith. Grand Mother to Angelica, Keisha-Marie, and Great grandma to Mason, Brooklyn, Anthony, Sincere and Prince-Willie Aunt to many Nieces and Nephews of Portland, Eugene, Las Vegas area. Great Aunt to many Nieces and Nephews

What will Always be with me Auntie Laura's Last words "LOVE YOU MORE"
