Kenneth Gaskin Jr. Obituary

Kenny was born on November 2, 1989, in Seattle Washington to father Kenneth and mother Kimberlee. Lil Kenny grew up in Portland, OR; Central Islip, NY; and Charlotte, NC. Kenny attended many schools. His last school was (PYB) Portland Youth Builders-Vocational-Trades School. This is where he was acknowledged for his leadership and craftsman skills. As he worked hard at achieving his high school diploma.

Early childhood through elementary Kenny loved sports like basketball, football and snowboarding and he was incredibly good at them. In baseball he was drafted from minors to majors a year before his age. Kenny was the kind of kid that could go anywhere and make new friends. In 2000 he was baptized at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. He believed in Jesus.

In 2009 Kenny experienced a tragic life changing event when he escaped death and left him with physical limitations. Kenny realized how important life was and turned all his energy and love towards his two children his daughter Mar’zia and his son Cayden. There was no telling him he had limits he pushed himself and never gave up. No matter how hard it was for Kenny he pushed through the pain and always placed his children first. Many of us know Lil Kenny was all about fashion and had an eye to design his own style. Kenny loved hats, sneakers, jerseys, music, and was an expert at dancing.

Lil Kenny (Kay Boogie) was known to family and friends as being silly and kindhearted. Kenny had a smile worth a million dollars and could light up a room. Kenny was known as a momma’s boy and his friends would often joke about it, but he knew it was true and definitely played on it. He worked hard at building relationships with his kids, it was so important to him for many reasons. The main reason is he wanted to let his children know he loved them unconditionally and he was enormously proud that his legacy will live on through them. He knows that his kids will be great and do great at whatever they choose to do, and he will always be with them. If you were Kenny’s friend or down on your luck Kenny would help you sometimes to a fault. He believed in paying his own way.

The last 20 days of his life he was able to mend relationships with his brother, old friends, and other family members; that was so important to him, and he was able to do that.

Lil Kenny (Kay Boogie) you will be missed and never forgotten, and you will always be great!
