Karen Bridges Obituary

Karen Sharif Bridges was born in Portland, Oregon on November 1st, of 1967. She was the second born of four children. Karen attended Faubion elementary, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1985. She worked at various nursing homes before she started working at OHSU as a surgical technician. She took her job very seriously. Every day she was scheduled to work, she went. Even if she wasn’t feeling well, she would pull herself together, then head out the door. She always put her family first, so making sure she got to work was one of her main priorities. There wasn’t anything she wouldn't do to make sure her family was taken care of.

Karen was a woman who was loved and cherished by many. She was someone that was always there to comfort you, talk to you, and give good life advice. Her smile, her voice, her laugh, her personality and her presence will be strongly missed. She was a woman who always spoke her mind and let the truth be known. One way she showed love for her family and friends was through music and food. Cooking was something she always did, whether it was for a birthday or holidays, she made sure to prepare something big enough for everyone to enjoy, even if she complained about it. With her music blasting in the background, she would throw her meals together and it would always come out perfect.

Her love for her children and grand-children was powerful. She was one of few that they could always count on to be by their side through any situation. Her passing made it very difficult to maneuver, but understanding that she is now their guardian angel, and will always remain by their side, has brought a little more comfort. Even though we cannot physically see her, we know her spirit still remains.

Karen is preceded in death by her mother Mae Bridges, grand-mother Cathryn Wysinger, as well as her sister, Ciara Bridges. She is survived by her father William Bridges Sr, along with two brothers, her children, and grand-children. Kevin Bridges, William Bridges Jr, Teal Williams- Bridges, Jeray Bridges, Taliyah Smith, Sa’Mya Bridges, Mae’Niyah Williams, Jae’Veon Bridges, and Harmony Williams. She was also very loved by plenty of nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly.
