Julie Diane (Hale) Ober

May 12, 1970 ~ August 8, 2023 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Obituary

Julie Diane Ober was born on May 12, 1970 a whole five minutes after her twin sister Amy to parents Leland and Dayle Hale in Portland, Oregon

Julie grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon and attended Oak Grove Elementary, Milwaukie Junior High and graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1988.

She married Stan Conner in 1991 and together they had two beautiful boys, Patrick Riley and Derrick William.  Although they divorced, Julie remained very close to Stan and his family and absolutely adored her ex-mother in law Caroline.

Julie later married Steve Ober and moved to Southwest Portland.  They merged their families and raised 6 children together.  She loved having a large family and becoming a grandmother, which she cherished.  Steve and Julie divorced but she always had fond memories of that time in her life and was so happy to have visited with his daughter Angela and her children recently.

Julie loved a lot of things…. She loved talking to people, wherever she went she would make a friend.  Any kind of animal was special to Julie and she treated Remmington, her Boston Terrier and Fawn, the Cheweenie like her own children.  Some of her other passions were the outdoors, hunting, camping, the beach, Las Vegas and scrapbooking some wonderful albums.  I don’t think she ever found a slot machine she didn’t like!  She was fun and LOUD and the life of the party!

In September of 2022, Julie was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer and like the warrior that she was she faced it head on and finished 6 weeks of radiation.  The initial tumor was gone and we were very excited until the next scan showed that it had spread to her liver. The cancer was now Stage 4 and incurable.  She began chemotherapy but the side effects and her quality of life were not what she wanted and she decided to stop treatment and enjoy whatever time she had left.  She went to several music concerts and took a girls trip to Las Vegas and spent time with her family.  She fought very hard and was so brave!

Julie did not want a formal funeral service and instead her wish was that we remind everyone to get a colonoscopy.  So, in lieu of any flowers for a service…call and make a doctor’s appointment!

She is preceded in death by her father Leland James Hale and numerous aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish the best memories are her children Patrick and Derrick Conner; mother Dayle Hale; brother Chad Hale; twin sister Amy Terry, brother in law Dwight Terry; nieces Chelsea Hale, Hillary Davault; nephews Marcus Terry, Zack Mills, Preston Terry; special cousin (triplet) Jeff Deuchar, and her little side kick Cheweenie Fawn Holly.

Rest in Peace Jules, we love you to the moon and back!
