Joseph Ewan Clague completed his worldly journey on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Born in Walla Walla, Washington, on April 13, 1956 to John and Myrna (Dieringer) Clague, Joe graduated from Brighton High School in Salt Lake City prior to earning his English Literature degree from Whitman College.
He embarked on his career with Portland General Electric as a meter reader in 1979 and retired in 2020 as a repair dispatchman.
Joe met the love of his life, Christie Zanotelli in 1980 and they were married in 1983. Together, they raised three children, Jacob, Patrick and Caitlin. He was a doting Opa to six grandchildren, always available to chauffeur to practices and social events, usually with a special treat accompanying the journey.
Joe enjoyed fishing, front porch blues music, classic movies and baseball - a vaunted supporter of Ichiro as well as the St. Louis Cardinals. He embodied the attitude of The Dude, including the occasional White Russian. Joe loved to drive, having visited 47 states. He and Christie also traveled abroad, everywhere from Krakow, Poland, to Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, three children, six grandchildren, 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be laid to rest with family in Waitsburg, Washington.
We hope that all who knew Joe will share in the celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood or give to the local food bank of your choice.
