Johnny Lee Summers Sr. (John Summers Sr.) was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 15, 1944. He was an only child to the parents of Vern Summers and Katie Mae Summers.
When he was a year old they moved to Portland, Oregon. Graduating from Franklin High School in 1961. John’s senior year of school he signed a contract and was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates Baseball League.
He eventually became a welder and then a quality control engineer for Hyster company for 19 years.
In 1962 John was introduced to Johnnie. He had the honor to be Johnnies escort for her Debutant coming out ball. They were married for 55 years.
John loved his sports and playing with the guys. He played baseball, basketball, golf, darts and racquetball. 2017 Johns noteworthy achievement as an athlete in high school, granted him a proud induction into the PIL Hall of Fame.
He leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Johnnie Marie; sons, John Lee Summers Jr. and Jeffery Jermaine; grandchild, John Lee III; great grandchild, John Trell and a host of family and friends.
