John Kennedy Obituary

John Anthony Kennedy AKA Baby John made his entrance into this world on October 30, 1961, to the union of Herbert Kennedy Sr. and Lydia Kennedy (Mickens). John has always been about family; he loved them all dearly and would give the shirt off his back if he could. He loved hard and always craved that connection of family. At any given time, you could receive a phone call from John just wanting to talk about god knows what and there were never any time limits on the conversation.

As a young child John attended Highland Elementary (later named King Elementary) and Beach Elementary. As a teen he attended Jefferson High School. Later in his life John enlisted into the United States Army where he developed a love for nursing. He went on to work various nursing jobs and was always quite vocal and hands-on. If any loved ones required medical attention, he was right there to be a brutal advocate with the doctors and nurses to make sure they were doing their jobs correctly and thoroughly. It was his love for nursing that led him to meet his wife, Mrs. Alma Taylor Kennedy.

John had quite a few hobbies that he enjoyed in his lifetime which usually included his partner in crime and his "brother's keeper," Larry Donnell. John loved running his mouth and was constantly sent home with letters from school about talking too much in class. It made his mom furious. John was introduced to and developed a love for hunting and fishing while hanging with his dad, but the city boy side enjoyed music and dancing or "groovin". He was the kid that was allowed back in the room with the grown-ups for entertainment purposes only. John also enjoyed watching and playing sports and he was actually a pretty good basketball player himself. He had a passion for the Oakland Raiders and was a fanatic for life.  You couldn't tell him anything about his team. He also had a thing for the ladies. John had an award-winning, crooked smile just like his dad and when he was up to no good it would appear. John was blessed with two beautiful children and a grandson. He had a big love for all people and seemed to meet no strangers. He made friends very easily. Our brother was loved and will be dearly missed. You can hear him now making his exit with his famous "CHILLY PILL."

John is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Kennedy Sr., and Lydia Kennedy; son, Bradley Woodard; siblings, Herbert Kennedy Jr., Roderick E. Miller, and Alene Gill.

John leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful daughter, Janae Woodard; wife, Alma Taylor Kennedy; siblings, Michael Williams, James A. Kennedy Sr., Frederick D. Kennedy Sr., Larry D. Kennedy Sr., Gloria A. Hastings, Felicia R. Kennedy, Danita Kennedy, Ross Zimmerly, and Andre Kennedy; grandson, TyVonne J. Woodard; and a host of other family members and friends.
