John Samuel Green

John Samuel Green was born on October 8, 1934 in Vaunsfield, St. James, Jamaica.  He is the second male child of Edna May Williams and Daniel Green, both deceased.  John met and married the love of his life, Grethel Euphema Taylor and they got married on Valentine’s Day , February 14, 1962, in their home town in Jamaica. He lived in Jamaica until the age of 56 years old when he emigrated to the United States of America, on 12/31/1990, settling in Portland, Oregon , where he lived up to the time of his death.  

John went home to be with the Lord on 1/1/2021.  He died at Legacy, Emmanuel Hospital from Cerebral Hemorrhage at 11:52 am. 

He is survived by his wife, Grethel Green, 8 daughters LeJoan, Judy, Carlene,  Dahlia, Margaret, Angella, Alice and Semone and 1 Son, Cordel.  15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 sons-in-law, 1 daughter in law, 3 sisters and 1 brother and a host of nieces, nephews and friends

The funeral service will be held at New Song Community Church , 2511 NE MLK Junior BLVD., Portland, Oregon 97212 on Saturday January 30th at 11:00 AM.  

Seating arrangement per COVID-19 Guidelines, social distancing 7 feet apart. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings. Hand Sanitizers will be provided as appropriate.
