On July 4th, 1965, Timothy Lockett and Marjorie Lockett welcomed their 5th and youngest child into the world, a beautiful baby girl whom they named, Jennifer Lea
Lockett. She was born in Portland Oregon where she was raised and spent her lifetime. She grew up to be a happy, outgoing child who loved to dance, ride her bike, play with dolls, she loved having sleepovers with her cousins and hanging out with her friends.
Despite some of the hard times she went through in her childhood, like being hit by a car and learning how to re-walk, losing one of her brothers to a drowning in 1969, or her dad to cancer her freshman year of high school in 1980, she always persevered, kept a smile on her face and continued life with faith. I don't know if being born on the 4th of July gave her the kind of fire and strength, she carried but no amount of fireworks in the sky shined brighter than her resilience.
A few months after her dad passed when she was 15, she met the love of her life, Phillip Ross. They became high school sweethearts, and she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1983. They welcomed their first child in 1984, a daughter named Nikelia Ross. In 1988 they welcomed their second child, a son named Phillip Ross Jr (a childbirth that nearly took both of their lives.) On October 15th, 1989, Jennifer and Phillip went on to get married and they continued the next 44 years together building a beautiful legacy of 2 children and 8 grandchildren.
Jennifer spent most of her career as a caregiver. She loved helping people even if
sometimes it meant putting other people before herself. When her mother, who was her best friend, had a stroke around 1995 and could no longer care for herself, she took her in and took the best care of her mom until she passed away in 1997. She was selfless,
forgiving, understanding, sweet, strong, giving, beautiful loving soul. She loved to laugh, joke around, have fun, always singing and dancing around. She loved to cook, create
different recipes, she made the best banana pudding ever. Nobody makes a better banana pudding then Jennifer, chef's kiss. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family. She was so, so proud of the family she created with her husband. She loved him past her last breath, loved her children and grandchildren past her last breath, fought in the end with everything she could for her last breath. It was a blessing and an honor to have known Jennifer. No one will ever be able to take her place.
She has now joined Heaven with her parents, Timothy Lockett and Marjorie Lockett. Her brothers Kennedy Lockett and Timothy Lockett Jr. She is survived and missed by her husband Phillip Ross. Her children Nikelia Ross and Phillip Ross Jr. Her daughter in law Deshawnna Williams. Her grandchildren Jaden Ross, Aaron Quarterman, Kimora Ross, A'joni Ross, Kaloni Ross, Kabella Ross, and Siah Ross. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Lockett and Teresa Lockett along with a ton of other nieces, nephews, cousins and family.
She was deeply loved, will be truly missed and never ever forgotten.
