Janet Taylor Obituary

I was born to John L. James and Trudie C. Nichols-James at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland Oregon, on June 19th, 1956. The same hospital where God has reclaimed my spirit for himself on July 3rd, 2025, at 1:35 am.

As the first grandchild, I have lived my life as an adventurer and free thinker searching nonstop for the relationship that I now have with God, so please do not cry for me, as I am good! I have lived my life in various places on this earth and now I am on my way to my forever home. God has been good to me!

I have had the privilege of knowing many people whom I have called friends, and I know that one day we will see each other again. I've lived my life going to Ms. Collins after school, attending Irvington Elementary School, daily walks to Irving Park, and attending Jefferson High School followed by other life choices of this world, then turned that around and became a professional student at Portland Community College. God has been good to me!
I married Gerald Taylor in Phoenix, Arizona in 1990 and while the marriage was dissolved, we remained the best of friends. I gained sisters and one brother in love and even more cherished family members.

I am preceded in death by my grandparents James and Jeanette Simmons, Esso and Cochett James, father John L James, my bonus siblings Nadine, Mildred, Lynn, Thaddeus, Brett James and bonus dad Louis Reid, favorite Aunties: Gertrude Leonard and Ruby Jo James, Uncles:
George, Ted, Clarence, Jerry, Jerome and Larry.

I am survived by my one and only mother Trudie Reid, and siblings Renee, Kellie, Barbara, Linnette, Brad, Paula, Pam, Nicolle, Jana ,Adam, John Jr., Jon, and Jaden along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and my decade plus longtime friend and caregiver Maura.

Remember God has been good to me!

2 Timothy 4:7-8 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
