James Guyton Obituary

James Guyton, birth given name Jimmy Lee Guyton, was born to Willie Bird and Lovie Ann Guyton on August 4th, 1949, in Cleveland, Mississippi. He was the third of six children. Known as Catfish to most friends and E-Baby to his siblings, he had multiple names for one kind-hearted individual filled with integrity and charisma, who selflessly showed love to all he crossed paths with.

James attended Boise Elementary and Jefferson High School, leaving high school to gain employment at Crown Zellerbach. This was the first of many jobs as James was a very hard-working, independent man who took pride in providing for himself, his children, and anyone in need.

In 1969, James married Joyce Monk. Although their union did not last, they remained bonded by their 2 children, Diane and Jimmy. James was a proud father and later increased his family by 2 additional sons, DeAndre and James.

Defeating many life challenges and obstacles, it was evident that James was a blessed man. Raised in a Christian home, James gave his life to Christ completely in 2010. He was a member of Piedmont and Mallory Church of Christ for several years. He relocated and became a member of Eastside Church of Christ in 2014, joining in Worship Service and Bible Study faithfully until becoming terminally ill.

James was proceeded in death by his parents, Willie and Lovie Guyton, his son who recently passed DeAndre Guyton (Mother: Cynthia McKenzie also deceased), his sister and brothers, Lillian, Jim, and Willie Guyton.

He leaves to celebrate his home going, daughter Diane Guyton, son Jimmy Guyton Jr. (Mother: Joyce Monk), son James Guyton (Mother: Stephanie Villa Franco), sister, Lovie Guyton, brother John Guyton, Granddaughters DeRasha Peek (Diondrei Peek), Jimeicha and Aziyah Guyton, Great Grandsons Damian and Dylan Peek, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.

James will be tremendously missed.
