James Busby Jr. Obituary

James Edward Busby Jr. was born October 2, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the oldest son to his mother, Betty Jean Martin and stepfather Thomas Martin, as well as his father James Busby Sr. and stepmother Peggy Busby. James attended Hart Court Elementary and West Lane Jr High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. When James was 14, his family moved to Portland, Oregon where he was an attendee of Washington Senior High School.

James was raised by his mother and his late grandparents, Mama Louise and Daddy Joe Landers, and his uncle Marcus Landers while his mother worked. He was very close to his late uncles,  and spent much time with Riley (Snookey) Jones Jr. (Vancouver, British Columbia), Jessie L Jones (Portland, Oregon) and William E Jones of  Indianapolis, Indiana.

James is survived by his siblings; Jeffery A Busby, married to Caroline of Vancouver, Washington, Jeannie Renee Moore-Busby of Vancouver, WA, John L Robinson, married to Georgann of Portland, Oregon, Joseph L Robinson, Bronx, New York, and Jesse L Robinson Portland, Oregon.

When the family relocated to Portland, Oregon, Jimmy would gain 2 more siblings; a sister, Dani Hall and brother, Darius Taylor. Growing up, James loved to sing and dance. This passion led to a career as an Entertainer for many years. He was blessed both with the voice of an angel, singing in the choir and the Lead Singer of the popular R&B group Unisun. He had a huge following from the Pacific NW to the Midwest and beyond. Jimmy also had a passion for sports and became a collector of sports cards and memorabilia. What started as a hobby actually turned into a career educating others on the value and selling items. Aside from those attributes, his number 1 passion was being a father. No matter the time or distance, Jimmy had a strong bond with all his children. Tyrone Criss (1973), Michael Younger (1974) Tenesha Jasmin (1979) Jermaine Coles (1991) Alexis Ottele (1992), Jamie Wellington (1995) and the baby G’Angelo Busby (1996), he was also blessed with 12 grandchildren.

In 2002, Jimmy was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Through strong faith and prayers, he was able to survive and fight for 19 years. He spent the remainder of those years being thankful and giving his Life to the Lord. Never complaining and always smiling.

Special thanks to Thomas and Betty Martin, Jeffery and Caroline Busby, Jeannie Moore, John and Georgann Robinson, Linda Mays, Nathaniel Bradley, Rosetta Warfield, Pastor and Lady Hurst, James and Peggy Busby, Kari, Kallie, Andre, Terrance, Renee,  Tanisha, Deandre, Meyah, Dani, Monique, Sir Barnes, JoAnn Travis, Elaine Burg.
