Jalon Marquis Yoakum was born on Easter Sunday, April 3, 1988 in Portland, Oregon to James and Twauna Yoakum. He was a funny young man who grew up loving his family and was respected and appreciated by his friends. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Dr. W.G. Hardy at Highland United Church of Christ. Jalon graduated from Lord high school and had a desire to have jobs and a career where he could work with his hands.
In 2018 he entered Constructing Hope to begin a career path in the construction industry as a carpenter apprentice. He also worked as a laborer, and manager at UPS. In the last several weeks Jalon changed his mind and decided he would like to go back to Constructing Hope and begin working toward a career as an apprentice for the Electrical Union. In fact, he was to report for duty on Thursday, May 13th, but unfortunately, his life ended suddenly on Wednesday, May 12th.
He leaves behind a family who loved him, believed in him, and supported him. He will be sorely missed as he was fun to be around and sincerely loved everyone in return.
