Jaelin James Scott, AKA ‘JJ’ was born October 14, 2003 in Portland, Oregon. The first born son of parents, Cash Carter (Portland, Oregon) and Amy Lee (Lincoln City, Oregon).
Jaelin attended Sabin and Irvington K-8 Grade Schools. He participated in an after school program sponsored by the Maurice Lucas Foundation where he learned about hard work and developed leadership skills.
Jalien, played basketball in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. When he was in the sixth grade, his team placed 2nd in their basketball tournament. He made many life long friends through basketball and kept in contact with them through high school. He attended Grant and Helens View high schools. He added more friends and influenced his teachers with his “hard work ethics”. It was not uncommon for his teachers to comment on what a nice young man he was becoming.
Jaelin also was a part of the Life works and CHI Programs, working on life skills and other subjects. In his spare time he watched his favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers. His favorite player was the late, great, Kobe Bryant, along with Damien Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Throughout his day and many activities, Jaelin always found time to be a good example and leader to his brother, Raymonta.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: father, Cash Carter (Portland, Oregon); mother, Amy Lee (Lincoln City, Oregon); brother, Raymonta Scott (Portland, Oregon); grandmother, Regina Scott (Portland, Oregon); maternal grandparents, Walter (Andrea) Schroeder (Otis, Oregon); great grandmother, Mary Scott (Portland, Oregon); numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
