Harvey Tene Jackson, Jr. was born in Portland, OR to Harvey, Sr. and Ernestine Jackson (Fisher). As a kid, he lived in the Portland area but also resided in Seaside, CA for a short period of time. He attended Seaside High School for his freshman year but later transferred to Thomas Jefferson High School in Portland, OR where he graduated.
Harvey went on to work various jobs to make a living for himself. He worked as a painter and as a sandblaster for several years at the shipyard in North Portland. He worked at the shipyard for 27 years before he retired.
Harvey had a few things that he really enjoyed and one of those main things was cooking. If you really knew Harvey, then you knew he had a strong passion for loving cooking in the kitchen or on the grill, and man could he throw down!!
He enjoyed hanging with friends and family, relaxing and having a good time. Another passion of Harvey's was fishing. He would travel to different popular fishing spots around Oregon and Washington and cast away. He made lots of friends over the years and was loved by many.
Harvey was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Jackson, Sr. and younger brothers, Michael and Anthony Jackson.
He is survived by his mother, Ernestine Luten; children, Shaundia Jackson and Jahlon Jackson; stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Harvey will be remembered for his strong work ethic, the love he had for his family, the love/passion for cooking and buying new cooking equipment, his love for those who loved him and the wisdom he shared in his young life. He will be truly missed, damn it!!!
