Harrison Kline III Obituary

Harrison Kline III, born on May 23, 1949, in Tallulah, Louisiana, was the second of ten children born to George and Minnie Lee (Cannon) Kline.

Harrison’s early education took place at West Side Elementary and Hyde Park Middle School, and he graduated from Clark High School in 1968. His entrepreneurial spirit was inspired by his parents, who owned a family grocery store in Louisiana and ran various businesses, including remodeling, concrete work, and property management, in Las Vegas.

Starting work at the age of 12, Harrison shined shoes at Geran’s Barbershop and took on a paper route, gaining experience that would fuel his work ethic. Later, he worked at Vegas Village Grocery, Full Multi-Item Store, and contributed to Kline's Concrete.

In 1968, Harrison moved to Portland, Oregon, where he lived with his Uncle "Pete" (Ural Cannon) and Aunt Ruby until he was able to live on his own. He found his footing in the Portland area by first working at the shipyards, eventually joining the City of Portland as a skilled mason. His craftsmanship in masonry and bricklaying graces many Portland buildings, standing as a testament to his talent and dedication.

Harrison was a quiet person and kept his relationships close to his heart. He met Thelma Hale and became a father in 1970 to his beloved daughter, Felicia Kline. He was married for a time to Joan Brown Kline. Driven by his ambition to work independently and own property, he established several successful businesses with the help of family, including Kline Masonry & Remodeling, KMR Enterprises Inc., and Kline Properties PDX.

For nearly two decades, Harrison was a cherished figure at Hank’s Hardware, where he shared his knowledge and offered advice with a friendly smile, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He loved the Lord and Christian Music. He was a faithful member of the Praise Team at Vancouver Ave First Baptist Church; you could find him in the choir stand every Sunday at 8am. Known for his loving birthday calls, he made sure those close to him received a heartfelt song on their special day.

Harrison joined the ancestors on November 6, 2024. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minnie Lee Kline, his brothers Joseph Kline, Albert Kline, George Kline Jr., Gary Kline, and his brother-in-law, Louis Cannon.

Harrison leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Felicia Kline of Dallas, Texas; his grandsons, MarcAnthony Kemp of Phoenix, Arizona, and Larry Kemp of Portland, Oregon; and his great-granddaughter, Raven Kemp of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by his brothers Gabriel (Evelyn) Kline and Kenneth (Ana) Kline of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters Shirley Cannon of Murrieta, California, and Janice Kline of Reno, Nevada; his sister-in-law Chree Kline of Palm Coast, Florida; and a special friend, Brenda Marshall of Portland, Oregon. A large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Harrison’s life was marked by hard work, family values, and a warm presence that touched the lives of many. His legacy lives on through his family, his craftsmanship, and the many relationships he nurtured over the years.
