George Elbert Greene was born on March 30, 1950 in Portland, Oregon to James Greene and Lela Mae Jones. George resided in Portland for the entirety of his life.
After graduating from high school in 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He married Barbara Moore and they had multiple children before later getting divorced.
George loved playing Backgammon and hanging out with his best friends of 40 plus years, Perry Polk, Dennis James, and Michael.
George is survived by his three children: Maurice Greene, Dashaun Greene, and Julia Cooper; his brother Cleopha Franklin, and many grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: James and Lela, brother: Edward Lynn Franklin, and two of his children.

A viewing will be held at Terry Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:00pm. A military honors service will be held at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery where he will be interred.
