Genesis Berlin Obituary

Genesis Semajé Jean Berlin (age 19), died January 10th, 2020 as a result of health complications due to Lupus. She was born on December 20, 2000 in Portland, OR at Emmanuel Hospital to Philip and Shonna (Lucas) Berlin. She attended Columbia Christian School, Bridger Elementary, HB Lee Middle School, Reynolds High School, then graduated from Portland Christian High School, class of 2019.  She completed her first semester of college at Portland Community College in December 2019.

In 2010, she was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a litany of health complications followed her throughout Elementary, Middle and High School. Despite this, she was an actor, concert cellist, and softball player during Elementary and Middle School.  In High School, she continued to act, and added worship leader and advocate. An alumni of Self Enhancement Inc., participant and intern for Girl’s Inc, participant and creative design member for EnvisionPDX, as well as an active member in youth groups for both Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and Irvington Covenant Church during her teens. A supporter and encourager several to dear friends in both Molly’s Fund and Kaleidoscope Fighting Lupus, as well as the teen ambassador for More Than Lupus.

Genesis is survived by her mother, Shonna; father, Philip; sister, Micah; maternal grandparents: Tammia Price-Lucas (Jacksonville, FL) and Nathaniel Lucas; paternal grandparents: Pearline Adams and Clinton Berlin (Fort Lauderdale, FL); aunts: Rose McGee, Charmine Lucas, and Nicole Berlin; uncles: Clive Osbourn(Jamaica), Andrew Osbourne (Sacramento), Michael McGee, and Nathaniel Lucas Jr.; cousins: Clive Osbourne Jr, Brianna Osbourne (Sacramento), Dominique Guy, Jamal McGee, James McGee, Almarie Osbourne (Sacramento), Gracye Shephard (Houston), JaLeah McGee, Isis Lucas, Faith Osbourne (Sacramento), Grace Osbourne (Sacramento), Eshani Lucas, Nathaniel ‘Atlas’ Lucas, and Nathyus Lucas. A long list of great aunts and uncles, cousins, and countless friends across the world.
