Florine (Burch) Thompson

Florine Thompson was born on April 5, 1932, in Ouachita, Arkansas. She was the first of four children born to Alex Burch, Jr. and Mattie Alexander. She departed this life on September 16, 2025, at the age of 93.

She moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue a career in nursing. While taking courses to be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) she was introduced to Elbert Thompson. They later married on December 7, 1965. With this union Vassie Elbert Thompson and Janet Elaine Thompson (Adams) was perceived.

Florine worked at Bess Kaiser Hospital for 32 years as a CNA.  She retired from Kaiser in 1994. After two years of retirement, she decided to work part-time in-home care. She loved caring for individuals. She retired again two years later and started enjoying retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Burch, Jr.  and Mattie Alexander; husband, Elbert; sisters, Inez and Gladys; and son, Vassie Thompson. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Janet Adams of Portland, Oregon; brother, MacArthur Burch of Louann Arkansas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
