LEGACY OF LIFE

Elnora Fletcher was born to the late Elmore Luster and Fannie Copeland Luster on October 23, 1924, in Tucker, Arkansas. Elnora was the youngest of four children, with two brothers Charlie Luster and Robert Luster and one sister Louise Copeland-Jenkins. Elnora Fletcher is also affectionately known as “Tee” to close friends and family. Elnora was born and raised in Tucker, Arkansas. She attended Rosenwald High School in 1938. Elnora was active in high school, and she participated in many activities in high school. She even played on the girls’ basketball team.

In 1939 Elnora met and dated the late Alonzo Phillips after completing high school. From this union was born a son, Herman Phillips. Elnora met the late Fred Burnett in the 1950’s, they were a couple for many years and moved to Little Rock Arkansas from 1951-1958. From this union, Elnora had a son Phillip Fletcher. After her parents passed Elnora moved to Portland, Oregon in 1958 to be closer to her older sister Louise Campbell-Jenkins. Elnora met and married her second husband the late Lane Fletcher on August 26, 1974. When Elnora first moved to Portland, Oregon she became a member of Vancouver Avenue Baptist church in the 1960’s where Pastor OB Williams was presiding. She was a highly active member participating in church service on a regular basis. After marrying Lane Fletcher Elnora became a member of Highland United Church of Christ in 1974. Elnora and her husband regularly attended and participated in many activities in the church and community. Elnora was on the usher board for many years. She also helped cook and serve breakfast to members before Sunday school and dinners to members. During Thanksgiving holidays and special occasions at church, Elnora would help cook and serve the church members and the community. Elnora was truly a good cook, and everyone enjoyed her sweet potato pies and her peach cobbler.

Elnora was such a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend, auntie, cousin to all who knew her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed help. Elnora was such a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren Sandra Phillips, Sedrice Phillips and Cindy Strickland that she took them to church with her every Sunday and had her grandchildren involved in many church activities as well. Her grandchildren were known to sing in the children's church choir at Highland. Elnora loved her grandchildren so much that she helped raise her grandchildren and was like a mother to them to where they affectionately called her “Mama.”

Elnora worked at Emanuel Hospital in the 1960’s as a surgical Prep Technician assistant for several years. She also worked for consolidated freight for 12 years in the environmental services department where she made many close friends, and they remained friends throughout the years. She also worked for Metropolitan Family Services for 13 years as a Home Care Aide where she retired after 13years. Elnora was a loving, kind, and generous person who lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed being around family, friends, and church members. She will be missed.

Elnora is proceeded in death by her parents, Fannie & Elmore Luster, her two brothers, Charlie Luster & Robert Lee Luster, her one sister Louise Campbell-Jenkins, her brother-in-law Roosevelt Jenkins Her husband Lane Fletcher. One daughter Phyllis Burnett, Eldest son Herman Phillips, her 2 sons dads, Alonzo Phillips (Herman), Fred Barnett (Phillip). 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children:

 Son Phillip Fletcher, daughter-in-law Perlie Phillips-Gordon of Greenwood, Mississippi.

 Granddaughters:

 Sandra Phillips of Portland, Oregon, Cyndy (Osborne)Strickland of Portland, Oregon, Sedrice Phillips of Portland, Oregon.

Great-Grandchildren:

Michael Strickland of Portland, Oregon, Johnathan Millage of Portland, Or., Sedrice Millage of Portland, Or., Jasmine Millage of Houston, Tx., Herman Phillips-Millage of Houston, Tx., Elnora (Coby)Allen of Washington, D.C. & Gabriella Hillis of Houston, Tx.

Great-Great-Grandchildren:

Tatianna Millage of Portland, Or., Portland Reid of Portland, Or., Ezekiel Allen of Washington. DC., Sanaa Allen of Washington, D.C., Jade Allen of Washington, D.C. Elnora has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly as she loved them. She always had a beautiful smile and a loving heart and always gave of herself without asking for anything in return. She was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
