Elicia Ann Smith

Elicia Ann Smith (also known as Lee Lee to family and friends) was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on May
26, 1959, to the late Lula Mae and Jim Smith.

While growing up in Alabama she attended St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.B. Burns. 
During her late adolescence she moved to Portland, Oregon to live with her brother in law,
Sylvester Hall & Sister Evangelist Violet Hall to finish her senior year of high school at James Madison High School. 
Elicia would make the Pacific Northwest her permanent home where she would give birth to a beautiful baby girl,
Stephanie. Elicia loved spending quality time with her family and friends and would ultimately live the
remainder of her life in Portland. Relocating to Portland, she often attended Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Church
where she accepted the Lord as her Savior Jesus and received the holy ghost under the leadership of
Bishop A A Wells and First lady Mattie Wells. Elicia was an independent strong stoic woman;
as well as a loving mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother who always provided informative advice when asked. 
She was a diligent and committed woman who took her responsibilities seriously.

Elicia worked as an insurance claims agent for over 30 years, 20 plus years at Empire Blue Cross Blue
Shield and 9 years at William C. Earhart. Her kind and generous spirit was reflected through her spending
many years caring for many children in the foster care system providing a safe & reliable home.
Elicia was an avid lover of the arts, music and literature. She could often be found reading one of her
favorite novels or a book series & taking pleasure in her music collection with a vast number of albums.
She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed making family meals during holidays with her sister
Evangelist Violet Hall & family. She was famously known for her sock it to me cake, 7- up cake, seven
layer salad and made the most delicious dressing that there ever was. She also enjoyed watching T.V.
shows, such as Little House on the Prairie which resonated with her and her late sister Theresa Smith.
Though distant, she often had deep and meaningful conversations with her sister Nancy. Although
private amongst family and friends Elicia was known to be loving, generous, intelligent, and humorous.
No matter what time of the day or night if you were invited into her home you would always find Lee
Lee's house immaculately clean from top to bottom. She was not a fan of clutter and was a firm believer
in “there is a place for everything and everything in its place.”
Knowing its importance, She placed a high value on education, hence her proudest moment is when her
daughter Stephanie graduated from Oregon State University in 2005.
When Elicia left this world she took a piece of each of us with her and our lives will never be the same.
She said what she meant and she meant what she said! She was a no nonsense person. 

Elicia’s memory will be forever cherished as she receives everlasting love from her daughter Stephanie, grandson Miles
and her siblings Violet Mae Hall, Nancy Matthew, Rosa Mae Kennedy (Nathaniel), Orlando Smith
(Crystal), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.   
Her death is predeceased by her parents, four brothers, and one sister, William (Buddy Boy), 
James, Edward (Eddie), Marvin (Bud), and Theresa (Aunt Terry).
She is survived by her daughter Stephanie and grandson Miles.
