Donna Perkins Obituary

Donna Yvette Perkins was born on September 7th, 1959, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to the parents of Joyce Nell Perkins and Lawrence E. Perkins Sr. In 1962, Lawrence moved his family to El Paso, Texas and lived there for nine years. In 1967, they moved to their hometown Portland, Oregon where they united with Faith Tabernacle Church and the whole family was saved.

When Donna was only a child, she was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia, but God intervened and did not allow her to suffer for that long and healed her completely. The doctors could not find a trace of the disease in her body. Donna attended Humboldt Elementary School and later Cleveland High School. As Donna grew up to be a beautiful young woman she met the father of her three children Garvin Jr., LaDonna, and Jennifer. Donna and Garvin Sr (deceased 2003) raised their children together and taught them that family sticks together no mater the circumstance and that was a bond that can never be broken.

Between 1990 and 1991 Donna graduated from B.C.T.I with her Associates Degree while working as head secretary at Faith Tabernacle Church. Donna was a woman who wore many hats, she was a care provider/CNA, as well as a customer service representative. She had the qualities of a helper and was there when you needed her. Donna always wanted to make sure her family was okay. She always had an encouraging word to uplift your spirits and every deep conversation ended with a laugh. As  Donna would always say, “Have Faith and Trust God.”

Preceding her in death, her mother, Joyce Nell Williams Perkins; sister, Brenda Perkins; aunt, Verdell Williams; uncle, Garland Williams.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory parent, Lawrence E. Perkins Sr.; siblings, Wylene Annette Parker, Patricia Louise Fonteno, Lawrence E. Perkins Jr., Karen Lavon Perkins; children, Garvin Alvin Franklin Jr., LaDonna Star Franklin, Jennifer Wynette Franklin; god daughter, Driana La’tice Watson; uncle, Frank J. Williams Jr.; and 11 grandchildren, 1 great grand child , 1 god grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.
