Diana Brister Obituary

Diane Lynn Brister “Diana” was called home December 19, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Diane was born on July 10, 1951 to Edward Wellington Evans and Beatrice Mable Litalien in the small town of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

She attended school at Southside, Northside and Valley View Elementary Schools and then high school at Bonners Ferry High School where she was a proud Bonners Ferry Badger. The family says she was a sweet child until she broke her arm around 4, when she beat all the kids up with her cast. As a child, she spent summers with her sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles going swimming, camping, and even fishing at Lake Pend Oreille (pon-da-ray). She was a feisty lady, but would also give you her last. She was also a protector and caregiver starting at a young age. Her sister said she fought for her when they were kids and took care of a little old lady who lived across the alley from their childhood home.

After high school Diane followed her two older sisters Jeanine and Darlene to Oregon and left little sister Cindy behind in Idaho. She then joined the United States Army and went to nursing school. This career was so fitting. Around this time, she met the love of her life Larry Brister Sr and they started their journey of life together having Larry Brister Jr, getting married on August 11th 1978, and later having their daughter Nicole Brister.

Diane continued her life nursing for about 42 years. She worked at several different hospitals including Shriners and Doernbecher taking care of some very special children. She also spent years doing home health care for elderly patients before retiring to enjoying her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren who she built special bonds with. She loved watching movies and her favorite tv shows with the older ones while letting the girls do her hair, makeup, and paint her nails. She even let LaNya cut her hair one time. She would do anything for her family. She also passed on the tradition of making Christmas cookies and candy with all of the kids in the family. She was a collector of elephants, which began as a collection passed down from her grandmother Leah Marie. She remained married to Larry Sr for 44 years and spent the rest of her days enjoying time with family and friends.

Left to cherish her legacy is her Husband Larry Brister Sr, Her children Larry Brister Jr (Janesha Gordon), Nicole Brister (Jeffrey Peters Sr) Beautiful grandchildren Larry Brister III, Isaiah Brister, Troy Brister, LaNya Brister, Dion Hall, Jeffrey Peters Jr, Kiya Bella Peters, Taiyah Hammick, Jatye Hammick, Sincere Peters, and Ariana Peters. Sister Cynthia L. Hilton (Clinton R. Hilton), and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her Father Edward Evans, Mother Beatrice Evans, Siteres Darlene R. Widness, and Jeanine M. Lethrud.
