DeLewis Moore Obituary

DeLewis Moore was born on March 9, 1944, in Waco Texas to the union of Eli and Velma Moore. He was one of twelve children.

In 1951, DeLewis relocated with his family by train from Riesel, Texas to Portland, Oregon, where he received his education at Boise Grammar School and Jefferson High School. DeLewis worked at Vericast Northwest/Oregon District Foundry where he spent his entire career.

DeLewis joined Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church as a child with his mother (Velma Ann Moore) and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. O. B. Williams.

DeLewis, affectionately known by his family and friends as "Demo" was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved all sports, but the Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team! DeLewis loved to laugh and crack jokes and he always had a great comeback! He enjoyed being outside. You could always find him out in the garage in his favorite chair enjoying the passerbyers. DeLewis loved his family and would do anything to lend a hand or to support them.

God saw fit to call him home, and his journey of life gracefully concluded on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 81. DeLewis was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Velma Moore, son Delewis Jr., brothers Leonard, Ivan “Tex”, Belletter, Walter, and Milton; sisters: Lou Charles, Nadine, Ruby, Lillian, and Fannie.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Helen Moore, Sons Paul and DeAndre Moore of Portland Oregon. Daughters Kori Moore Reddick of Hopewell Virginia, Renee Moore, Anita Gosby, Veronica Robinson, Olympia Robinson, and Loyce McDonald (husband: Kenneth McDonald) all of Portland Oregon. Sister Lou Evelyn Moore, Grandchildren: Tyler, Justin, Kameyah, Jeremiah, Rakiyah, Willie, Ny'Zjaila, Kamelya, Olivia, Victoria, Kendall, Naomi, Elizabeth and Canaa. Great grandchildren: Spencer, Jeremiah, Khamari, Eztrella, Quamir, Sorayah, Milo, Roberto, Mayani and Ezra, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
