Cynthia Elaine Key, a loving mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 in Portland, Oregon. Born on July 18, 1972, in Los Angeles, California, to Portia Elaine LeBlue and the late Vincent Charles LeBlue, Sr., Cynthia spent her formative years in Portland, Oregon. Cynthia was a devoted mother, and her family was the center of her world. She welcomed her first son, Travis Neal LeBlue-Johnson, in 1986. In 1992, she married Aaron Key, Sr., and together they had a son, Aaron Key, Jr.
Cynthia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age, a foundation that guided her throughout her life. She attended Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon and went on to pursue her passion for caring for others. She attended Concordia Community College, dedicating herself to her studies and graduating in 2001 with a Nursing degree.
Cynthia's commitment to service led her to a fulfilling career as a phlebotomist at The American Red Cross. She approached her work with compassion and dedication, touching the lives of many through her caring nature.
Beyond her work life, Cynthia possessed a talent for creating warm and inviting spaces. Her home was a haven filled with beautiful plants, delicate trinkets, and thoughtful details that reflected her loving spirit. She had a heart of gold, showering her family with heartfelt gifts and ensuring everyone felt cherished. Her infectious smile and laughter lit up any room, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. As a young girl, she was affectionately known as "Lainy baby" by her family.
Cynthia was a determined and resilient woman who persevered through life's challenges. She was deeply loved by family and friends and will be profoundly missed. Her creative spirit shone brightly, especially during her time spent with her late grandmother, Nettie Freeman, learning to craft porcelain and ceramic dolls, a cherished memory she held dear.
In recent years, Cynthia extended her nurturing spirit by becoming a dedicated care provider for her grandfather, James Freeman, Sr. She created a comforting environment for him, filled with the gentle sounds of wind chimes, vibrant flowers, and lush plants. Caring for him, they went on rides to the casino, preparing meals, and engaging in activities that brought him joy. He deeply
